The Goddess Archetypes

Part of being human is the constant evolution of identity. Changing of the guards with archetypes, roles and passions. I love the Goddess Archetypes as a representation of the shifts that women in particular go through in the various phases of their lives.

The Virgin Goddesses, named so for being who they are without man, self sufficient and independent:

Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge

Artemis, the Goddess of the Hunt and Adventure

Hestia, the Goddess of the Hearth and Spirituality

The Vulnerable Goddesses, named so for being relationship focused and centred on a significant relationship:

Persephone, the Maiden, Goddess of the Underworld.

Demeter, the Mother, Goddess of Provision, Grain and Agriculture.

Hera, the Wife, Goddess of Marriage

And last but not least, Aphrodite - in her own category of Alchemy and Transformation, the Goddess of Love.

In my life thus far I have predominately embodied Persephone in my youth, the grieving Demeter during years of child loss, Demeter to the exclusion of all else upon in the first few years of having my earth side children and the Virgin Goddesses upon exploring life outside of motherhood and going on my own self development and healing journey.

Which goddesses to you resonate with in this season of your life?
