Living For What Truly Matters

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

Remember -

"You're going to die one day. I know that's kind of obvious, but I just wanted to remind you in case you'd forgotten. You and everyone you know are going to be dead soon. And in the short amount of time between here and there, you have a limited amount of fucks to give. Very few in fact. And if you go around giving a fuck about everything and everyone without conscious thought or choice - well, then you're going to get fucked ..."

This hit me right in the face.

It's from The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, which I've just started reading. I wasn't really getting into it because I wasn't sure of the author's angle, until I read this.

Those who spend their days obsessing about stupid shit, talking talking talking about insignificant stuff and making their world about what is NOT important ... will never have space or time for what actually is.

Your balance, your energy, your future and your life will go in whatever direction you choose to give the most fucks. So stop giving a fuck about the things that don't truly matter in the long run and aren't tied to the direction that you SHOULD be going in.

In a practical sense -

If something isn't in your zone of creativity or isn't directly tied to your dreams coming true - stop focusing on it. Outsource it, skip it, hack it, overcome it and stop giving a fuck about it.

Hire an assistant, consult an advisor, get a cleaner, say no to more things, say yes to others ...

If you have a block in the way of your dreams - make a choice - work on it, overcome it, outsource the resolution of it and find your way around it. Don't just obsess over it.

Journal, read, meditate, ask yourself WHY you are letting this block sit in your way ...

If you've forgotten about your dreams because all you do is go on and on and on about random stuff that you should not give a fuck about. Just stop already. It's entirely within your power.

After all - when you get to the end of the line, do you want to know that you gave your fucks to what truly mattered - your family, your soul, your dreams, your love?

Or will you be satisfied that you were instead filling each day with useless conversations, connections with people you didn't adore, talking about forgettable things, making preparations for the day your dreams never became true and spending your limited time on activities that never served you or your soul.

So many people will go to bed tonight and never wake up again in the morning. They had dreams, they had a destiny and they too had grand plans. So many people will wake up tomorrow and go to work, only to have misadventure and death greet them instead. Maybe they too were always saying - tomorrow's the day, next week is the week, eventually, maybe, one day, one day, one day. And then boom - it's all over. Had your chance. Mucked it.

What if you only had 12 weeks left to live. Would you be living exactly as you are today?

Would you be giving your energy to the same bullshit? Or would you be determined to spend your time on what lit you up inside. Spreading your message, your love, your purpose, your beautiful uniqueness to the world?

I hope the later.

And I hope you have time to wake up and truly shine.

Because you were meant for so so much more than what you are currently doing.

Nothing is actually stopping you after all.

P.S.
