Let's all be Fools

I've been in a siesta for the last week or so and it's been an absolutely wonderful way to end the last year and start this new one. Personally, I love the endings, beginnings and middles of cycles - menstrual, moon, annual or otherwise.

I've recently started learning the underlying stories of the tarot rather than just relying on my intuition and manual to interpret the cards and, the major arcana following a cycle too beginning with The Fool on their journey and ending with The World which represents fullness, completeness and conclusion before the karmic shift back to The Fool to begin again.

The archaic translation of The Fool is actually closer to The Madman or The Beggar so

rather than lending itself to the image of a court jester, clown or someone inherently silly we

should instead consider that The Fool is someone yet to be tamed, yet to be adorned, wild, free and at the genesis of their untapped knowledge.

Either way, this card upright is connected to 'Folly, mania, extravagance, intoxication, delirium ... and if the card is reversed: Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.'

So, with the beginning of this new year, how many of us our playing out The Fool?

Are you extravagently making goals and plans for the year ahead? Are you intoxicated with ideas? Manically throwing yourself into new routines .... finding yourself in a state of delirium? Delirium being defined as an acutely disturbed state of mind characterized by restlessness, illusions, and incoherence (sounds exactly like me when I'm immersed in creativity!!).

The alternative as The Fool reversed being to embrace the abandonment of this opportunity. To be negligent, to feel nothing and to throw it away. Perhaps even leaning into a false sense of superiority (which masks vanity and a fear of failure of goals being set or ambitions vocalised and then never achieved).

For me, I'm in resonance with The Fool upright and am in gratitude for that.

This year I have written out my New Years Goals for 2022 and accompanying Life Bucket List and I can safely say that they are 1000 x more extravagant than any I have ever made before. I recently had a powerful reading where I was advised to break the ceiling with my manifestations and I have well and truly run with that with my intention setting and journaling!

I am also intoxicated and excited with what this year will bring for all of us. I enjoy the mania and spontaneity and leap of faith than jumping into new routines and working on new goals allows.

And as I sit here writing this, semi disconnected from my surroundings as I get in the flow of working, restless to get out what needs to be got out and often feeling like I'm entering a separate dimension - I'm clearly in a state of delightful delirium.

What about you?

If you're reluctant to embody The Fool upright ask yourself this:

  1. How is ego serving me and my higher purpose right now?

  2. What's the best thing that could happen if I remember my calling?

  3. If I didn't have any responsibilities and didn't have to answer to anyone, what would I aim for this year (this is my OG and enduring New Year journaling prompt and always my favourite)?

  4. If I knew it was done, if I knew it were achievable, if I knew only my imagination were the limit, what would I be working toward this year?

  5. What am I going to be most grateful for at year end?

Then take the leap, write out your goals in the present tense: I AM, I HAVE, I OWN, I EMBODY and begin your journey.

Every version of ourselves already exists, everything we can think of has already happened, every possibility is available. We get to just slide into whichever dimension is playing out that story.

The key is be foolish and crazy enough to believe.

P.S.
