Journaling Makes Money

My favourite prompt of this week is one I picked up from the female founder of PlannThat.com (the insta scheduling / social content app) and it’s:

‘What are you doing right now, and is it making money?’

I love this because I am sometimes inclined to get distracted by the random stuff with my own biz. And my levels of perfectionism can go into overdrive with my own creative stuff if I don’t keep myself in check.

I’ve got that prompt of the week set as my alarm 4 times a day and it just went off as I was journaling which made me ask myself - ‘Does journaling make me money?’. To which I responded with a resounding yes.

There are a lot of things that I do do in my business which wouldn’t seem like they help with my end line to someone on the outside looking in. But I know that they are instrumental - like journaling.

When I journal in the morning, my content flows out of me without any blocks or difficulty - these posts are the ones I love the most and the ones that generally connect and reach more people which then generally results in more followers which opens the potential for more conversions.

.

After journaling, I spend anywhere from 10-40 minutes writing the subsequent copy for my daily post. If I don’t journal - it can take me all day to try and extract anything to post (and sometimes I just don’t post at all). For me, posting consistently each day generally equals corresponding and continued growth with followers. If I have a few days/a week off, my engagement rate drops and with Insta in particular, my follower numbers drop. Vanity metrics/followers don’t = sales but having an engaged genuine following base is more liking to result in have a portion of these become paying clients.

Lastly - when I journal, despite getting a bit annoyed at the CONSTANT interruptions from my kids when I do so on the weekends, I am a much happier person and am able to hone in on my goals and intentions for the day. I am also less inclined to let my mood, people or circumstances stop me from showing up with my business and taking steps online - this makes all the difference between having a profitable business vs not.

So yeah, long story short, journaling does make me money. And it makes me so freaking happy so I’d do it anyway even if it didn’t! What about you? What random thing do you do that you KNOW helps your business bottom line?

P.S.
