Everyone is Just as Self Obsessed as You Are

Dance like no-one is watching because changes are - they aren’t!⠀

Out of the many many many many many mindset, spiritual and self development books on my bookshelf, there are a fraction of fictional ones. And they are serious hard hitting books except for two deliciously trashy ones. One about body snatching aliens and, the other about a group of housemates who go through various epiphanies and realisations.⠀

⠀

The later came for free with a Spanish Cosmopolitan magazine, I think I stole it from my sister but I swear - it's got some juicy truths in it. We actually ended up talking about it at dinner the other day and both agreed that it remains a must read 😂⠀

⠀

And there's this one part where two of the characters are about to go to a party and one is worried about what others will think of her. So in response, her friend says something like (and I will butcher this quote):⠀

⠀

"Everyone is just as self-obsessed as you are. Spending their time focusing on what other think of them that they have no time to think of you."⠀

⠀

It's kinda rude but I dare say also true in most instances.⠀

⠀

Most people are too self-critical to notice you doing something that could be critiqued. And even if they do - so what? What's the worst thing that could happen? They act like a douche and you realise that they're someone that no longer gets to enjoy your amazing company?⠀

⠀

Even if the few do say something, it's inevitably still about them, their triggers, their emotions and their experiences - still not even about you.⠀

⠀

So it all comes back to everyone being too self obsessed to be the thing that you should EVER choose to stop you dancing and throwing yourself into the fray.
