Essential oils called to me initially because of my anxiety and they then became an indispensable part of my toolkit with managing daily stress and fight/flight response.
When the body gets stressed and goes into a fight/flight response (which can happen constantly in today's society), your body goes into survival mode. It redirects hormones and blood flow and, pulls energy/reserves from the organs it isn't prioritising in that moment.
Your biggest organ (your skin) is often the first place that stress begins to make it's most obvious mark because tissue repair amongst other things gets put on the back burner.
That's why it's pretty beautiful to have essential oils on hand that not only help the surface layer (especially where appropriate for topical application) but, they can also help the root sympathetic nervous system response.
My go to essential oils for stress are: *Lavender (also good as a deodorant), Clary Sage (also good for period pain), Ylang Ylang, *Orange and, the Young Living *Peace and Calming and *Stress Away blends.
And these go hand in hand with a plethora of other things in my toolkit.
