Change your Environment, Change your Life

Updated: Jun 12, 2022

Environment can be everything sometimes. It's kind of like the backyard or patio of your mind. You can have everything right from a mindset perspective but not be able to get in the zone or have your creativity actually expand outward with respect to content creation, business activity or upward trajectory with your passions, unless the where/what and who around you is supportive.

For some people this is more of a factor than others but if I were to hazard a guess I would say for at least 50% of us, our surroundings can make the difference between being productive vs not. Or at the very least make it come from flow vs feel incredibly forced.

I find myself using intuition backed with knowledge and common sense and tend to be very unapologetic about not being able to work here vs there, at this table vs that one etc, with these people around me vs others etc.

I will heavily research before committing to a zone, have my regulars, have no drama about being by myself, surrounded by groups, hanging somewhere cool for hours and, find it energetically elevating when everything lines up. This then becomes my flow zone and I can get more done in 10 minutes or 1 hour than what I could have otherwise completed in a week. This is part of what gets called Quantum Leaping.

Despite the fact that our surroundings can make a critical difference so many people remain working from cubicles, locked in their study or chained to their home wifi even when they do have the active option to choose otherwise.

Part of the problem is self confidence or self worth issues - having the audacity to take up space publicly, take work calls in public, do livestreams in public, dine alone on your laptop and gift yourself an energetic up level that others might deem bourgeoise or unnecessary.

A great question to journal on around this is:

If no-one was watching, where would I feel like my next level self while working today?

The fact is most people probably aren't watching, they are more concerned about themselves and whether someone is watching them. And those that are actually watching? Give them a show!

I used to have crippling self confidence. I was always hunched over and hiding on the day to day, making fun of myself dancing instead of giving it my all at clubs, not looking others in the eye least they thought I assumed they liked me, not saying hi/bye because I thought I was super forgettable ... etc. And I simultaneously thought this all made me look cooler and like less of a 'try hard' (the trigger insult of my youth).

I wonder if you've ever seen someone else acting like that vs someone who is just their full flavour self? It's not nice to watch but can in some ways be more eye catching simply because it's so awkward. So bad you can't look away.

The fact is, people are so much more beautiful, alive, healthier and magnetic when they release. And they in turn have so much more open up in their worlds including allowing themselves to embrace the surroundings that energetically support them into their next elevation.

P.S.
